The Tale Behind the Peaks Signage

CLIENT: Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World

Commissioned by Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World, Studio Marobi illustrated and designed The Tale of the Peaks interpretive signage, inspired by the Jinibara creation story of the Glass House Mountains. Positioned throughout the gardens at scenic viewing locations, the signage helps visitors identify the iconic mountain peaks while connecting the landscape with its rich cultural history and surrounding landmarks.

Project Highlights:

  • Designed and illustrated a custom interpretive signage experience for visitors.

  • Developed a hand-illustrated visual style inspired by the Jinibara creation story of the Glass House Mountains.

  • Combined illustration, typography and wayfinding to create an engaging educational resource.

  • Carefully aligned the signage with panoramic viewpoints to identify the Glass House Mountains and surrounding landmarks.

  • Produced print-ready artwork using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Procreate.

This project demonstrates our ability to combine illustration, interpretive design and place-based storytelling, creating visitor experiences that deepen connections to both the landscape and its cultural significance.
